Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is an increasingly valuable tool in perioperative anesthesia practice. This course reviews practical applications of airway, pulmonary, and gastric ultrasound to enhance assessment and patient safety. Participants will be introduced to the perioperative utility of the Focused Assessed Transthoracic Echo (FATE) exam and the key scans used in the Focused Assessment using Sonography for Trauma (FAST) exam. Emphasis is placed on how POCUS findings can guide pharmacologic decision-making, while also recognizing the limitations of ultrasound in clinical practice.
