Course # 032 Physiology in Practice: Case Studies in Hemodynamics

Peri-induction hypotension remains one of the most common—and potentially devastating—challenges in anesthesia practice. In this evidence-based presentation, Dr Brett Clay, CRNA explores the underlying physiology that drives hemodynamic instability during induction, with a focus on the effects of positive pressure ventilation, venous return, pulmonary vascular resistance, and cardiac output. Participants will learn to identify patients at greatest risk for right ventricular failure and peri-induction cardiovascular collapse while developing a physiology-based approach to selecting vasoactive medications. This course will be valued at 1 Mac Ed CE.
